MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd has been awarded its first controls and automation contract for the nuclear industry.

Against major competition, Toshiba Westinghouse has awarded MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd. the contract to refurbish and upgrade the existing automated drum store warehouse at its Salwick Springfield Fuels plant.

A key benefit of the MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd. proposal, which was recognised by Toshiba Westinghouse, was the introduction of a full system simulation and software emulation solution prior to the project being implemented.

Toshiba Westinghouse also recognised the vast amount of experience that MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd possess in the field of automated crane refurbishment projects, having carried out similar projects for the Daily Mirror Group, Jaguar Cars, General Motors andIBC Vehicles to namea few.

MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd. has identified the nuclear industry as a key market and is looking to establish themselves as amajor player for controls and automation within this industry.
