MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd has been awarded a major new contract by ROFA GmbH for the complete turnkey controls and automation project for Electric Monorail Systems (EMS) for the delivery of Bodysides, Rear Floors & Motor Compartment.

The project includes the development of the new ‘General Motors Global Standards’ for Electric Monorail Systems (EMS).

The first two GM plants to avail of the new standards as developed by MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd will be the GM UK Ellesmere Port Plant and the GM Poland Gliwice plant.

The GM Ellesmere Port plant will have its existing Bodysides & Rear Floor delivery conveyor system modified extensively along with the introduction of a new delivery system to service the new Astra vehicle which is being introduced in 2008/9. The GM Gliwice Plant will also have a new Motor Compartment conveyor system for the new Astra.
